Experimental education in first Czechoslovak republic. At the example of schools in Michle, Nusle, Hostivař

The topic of my thesis is experimental schools in Prague Michle, Nusle and Hostivař. It tries to shed light on the circumstances of the birth and end of these schools and to determine their characteristic features. Emphasis is put on the social aspect of experimentation and its close relation to the environment of the First Czechoslovak Republic. Inspiration by modern pedagogical theories is taken into account. The thesis traces the lives of several teachers. As sources were used not only archives but also a series of interviews with graduates of these schools. It aims, on the basis of a comparison of written and oral sources, to give a complex image of experimental education in Czechoslovakia at the time of the First Republic and the Protectorate. Last but not least it tries to answer the question whether experimental schools can contribute to today's education. Formative Assessment in the Educational Area Man and His World

The presented diploma thesis deals with the use of formative assessment in the educational area Man and His World. Its outcome offers a possible way of solving the shortcomings of the area in question which negatively affects pupils' attitudes towards the school subjects of this educational area. The theoretical part presents findings about the assessment in general, namely its definition, presentation of functions, types and forms of assessment. It also emphasizes the relationship between the objectives and assessment which will be a pivotal one in the educational area in question. It also discusses the specifics of this educational area in relation to the impact on pupils' attitudes. Findings about formative assessment are focused on the definition, analysis of advantages and methods of implementation into teaching. The empirical part is based on the findings from the theoretical part and is carried out by a mixed research design. Questionnaire, interview and observation was used as methods to conduct the research. The aim was to find out whether the pupils who are assessed formatively have a more positive attitude than the pupils, who are assessed only summatively. Use of social studies textbooks by primary school teachers

The diploma thesis deals with the textbooks used by teachers of national history and geography. Most of the teachers included in my research sample use textbooks mainly for preparation of their lessons, which corresponds with the researches in the Czech Republic presented in the theoretical part of this thesis. As a complementary material used for lesson planning they use the Internet. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The findings of the research and the recommendations of the professional literature related to the issue of teacher's choice of curriculum and to the role of textbooks are discussed. The research related to the lesson planning, teaching methods and types of planning for the lesson is analysed and a special attention is given to the usage of various recourses e.g. encyclopaedias and educational software used for lesson planning. One chapter deals with the theory of textbooks and with the research related to their evaluation. The last chapter of the theoretical part is focused on the concept of lesson planning in the Czech Republic and the potential of textbooks usage for teaching of given subject. The Role of the Teacher in the Process of Implementation of Primal Prevention of Bullying at the Primary School.

This graduation thesis is dedicated to the personality of the pedagogue in relation to the primary bullying prevention realisation at the primary level of the schools. The first part deals with the characteristics of the young learner period of the child development through the perspective of the developmental psychology aimed primarily at the cognitive and emotional development as well as the moral awareness. The second part views two basic tendencies of the upbringing and the education that appear in the pedagogical environment. It offers a description of the contemporary idea of upbringing and education in our background including its critics' opinions. The third part concerns the problematics of bullying and the primary prevention options. The last part is dedicated to the personality of the pedagogue from a psychological and pedagogical point of view with a philosophical overlap.

Children's Understanding of Selected History Topics in Primary School

netradiční způsob jeho výuky na prvním stupni základní školy. K tomu účelu také mapuje dětská pojetí historického tématu a jejich porozumění společnosti během zmíněné doby. úvodu práce popisuje vývoj přístupů k vyučování historie, psychologické aspekty dětského současné historické literatuře představováno období komunismu na české vesnici. Výzkumná část obsa příslušného učiva v učebnicích vlastivědy, analýzu vybrané literatury pro děti a mládež (jak dobové, tak současné) a vlastní výzkum, který byl proveden metodou "design research". V práci je popsán proces vytváření vyučovací hodiny založené na literatuře pro děti mládež a tvorby komiksu. Jako diagnostická metoda pro zjišťování žákovských pojetí po výuce byl vybrán skupinový rozhovor se žáky. Práce uvádí výsledky analýzy vybraného vzorku pořízených rozhovorů. Pro hlubší pochopení problematiky dětských pojetí historických událostí bude potřeba dalších výzkumů. Lower secondary school pupil with special educational needs in the social studies class: a case study

This thesis studies the functioning of pupils with special educational needs in mainstream lower secondary schools. The special focus is on social studies classes. The teaching/learning processes are described within the broader context of education, which includes mainly parents or legal guardians, teachers and teaching assistants. The theoretical part describes the legal framework of inclusion in the Czech Republic and previous research on the role of teaching assistants. The empirical part uses the qualitative approach. Several cases are presented based on analysis of documents, interviews and observations. The data were compared across the cases. The results suggest that there is a difference between the lessons of social studies and the classes of the "core subjects". The teaching assistants are available in the social studies classes only rarely. Given the mixed effects of the teaching assistants on learning and socialization of the special needs pupils, this situation might have both positive and negative impact. TITLE: Understanding of Society by Czech Pre-school Children AUTHOR: Nikol Tomášková DEPARTMENT: Institute for Research and Development of Education SUPERVISOR: RNDr. Dominik Dvořák, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The society's need to teach financial literacy to children of as early as pre-school age is ever increasing. Since there is number of methodologies currently being developed on this topic, the author considers crucial to explore a child's conception of socioeconomic phenomena associated with financial literacy before these guidelines are introduced in Czech nursery schools for practical use. In this thesis pre-school children's perception of such phenomena as profession, employment and associated financial flows, as well as the concept of poverty and wealth are being examined. Theoretical basis of this research uses certain principles of the constructivist model of development and education within the general framework of pre- school education. Our work has been also influenced by the ideas of J. Piaget and L. S. Vygotsky, in particular by those on children's thinking and thought processes. As a method to examine the above mentioned perceptions of children, an in-depth clinical interview has been used. Teacher' s approach to family related curriculum

My diploma thesis focuses on the approach to family related curriculum at primary school. The theoretical part includes analysis of contemporary view of family in terms of psychology and sociology, summary of possible problems connected with the family related curriculum, some recommendations how to approach the family related curriculum and analysis of approach to this curriculum in FEP EE, three school education programmes and three sets of textbooks from primary education. The practical part examines the approach to family related curriculum from students' of teaching point of view.
